Member Services

The Libraries are pleased to continue offering an array of services to graduates of the University of Manitoba.  Drop by any University of Manitoba library or contact the Libraries' Liaison Librarian for Alumni Services for further information.

Borrowing

You can register for a FREE library card at any unit library.  Bring your Alumni card or number and you will receive a library card with a 14-digit ID number and a PIN.  Use these numbers to access your account in My Library Account.  We strongly recommend that you change the assigned PIN to a password you will remember easily. You can do that in My Library Account after you log in.

With your library card you may:

*borrow books (30 day loan period with 3 renewals)

*borrow journals (1 week loan period with 3 renewals)

*borrow up to 20 items at a time and

*place holds on items which are 'available' or 'checked out' and pick them up at the library

    most convenient to you.

Keeping Track!

You will use your library card ID number and PIN to keep track of the materials you have signed out, any outstanding holds, etc. through the My Library Account feature.  More information about borrowing, requests, fines, etc

Electronic resources

Full access to our licensed electronic resources is available in any unit library.  You may be asked to authenticate using your library card ID number and PIN.   Due to license restrictions only some of our electronic resources are available off campus (e.g. from your home or office).  Look for the titles with a icon in the Databases List.  In all cases our licenses specify that the resources are to be used for research, study and teaching and not for commercial purposes.
