How to Use Your UM Libraries Account

UM Students, Staff, and Faculty:

  • Claim your ID in order to activate your library account. 
  • To borrow library material:
    • Present your University of Manitoba Photo ID Card at the Service Desk, or
    • Use one of the library's two meeScan Stations for self-checkout.

UM Distance Education Students:

UM Alumni:

  • Go to UM Libraries' Alumni Services website for instructions on registering for a library card and for an overview of services available to you.

All Other Borrowers (i.e. ICM, retired staff, visiting scholars, citizens, etc.):

  • View the Borrowing Privileges Chart for information on categories, privileges, and registration fees.
  • Complete the UofM Libraries’ Borrower Registration Form.
    • Learn how to sign the form electronically here.
  • Bring the completed form to any University of Manitoba Libraries Service Desk. The library staff will set up your account right away.
  • To borrow library material:
    • Present your 14-Digit Library ID at the Service Desk.

My Account

In My Account you can view a list of material you have borrowed; renew your borrowed items; view and cancel your requests; pay fines and fees; and change your password.
