Public Computers and Equipment

The Management Library has 15 public computer terminals. Each computer is equipped with Microsoft Office 2010: Access, Excel, OneNote, Picture Manager, PowerPoint, Publisher, SharePoint Workspace, and Word.

Other items available for loan:

2 – USB Memory Sticks – 2 hour loan

2 – Headphones – 4 hour loan

3 – Calculators – 4 hour loan

4 – LCD monitor cables: 2 MVGA; 2 HDMI 3 hour loan *library use only

2 kits Whiteboard markers and eraser 3 hour loan *library use only

Overdue fines will be charged if items are not returned on time: $0.50/hour per item, accumulating to a maximum of $50.00.

A replacement charge will be assessed for any damage or loss. 


NOTE: The Bloomberg terminals are located in the Financial Data Centre in the Albert D. Cohen Management Library and are not available remotely.

Bloomberg is restricted to current University of Manitoba faculty, students, and staff.

Copying, Printing & Scanning

Our library is equipped with:

1 scanner
1 black/white printer
1 colour printer
1 black/white photocopier
Black/white copies - $0.20/double-sided page
Colour copies - $1.00/page.

The photocopiers and printers accept a UM student/staff card or a Libraries copy card. Note: The library does not accept printing credits that are given to the Asper students.

There is a 'value adding' machine in the library for you to put money on your library card. The Circulation Desk can provide change.

Food & Beverages Guidelines

These guidelines are based on the University of Manitoba Libraries Food & Beverages Policy (see

The Management Library staff want you to be comfortable while studying and working in our beautiful space. We also want to ensure that all library patrons are able to study in a clean and welcoming environment. We understand that sometimes food and drink play a role in studying and learning. In order to keep our space beautiful, please observe the following guidelines.

Allowed in the Management Library:

  • Snacks. Cold or packaged. Please avoid snacks that make a mess, and make sure to clean up after yourself.
  • Drinks. In a closed container please.

NOT allowed in the Management Library:

  • Hot food (pizza, poutine, pad thai, etc.) Why? It produces odours that can disturb others. Hot food tends to be messy, and oils, sauces, and grease can make a mess and cause damage to library property.
  • Meals. Why? A cafeteria or food court atmosphere is not conducive to study and learning. Full meals tend to produce more garbage and more mess.
  • Food deliveries. The UM Libraries Food & Beverage policy prohibits food delivers to the Library.

Please dispose of your garbage and clean up any mess you make!

Course Reserves

To access print course reserves, enter your professor's name in the Course Reserves search box then click Search. Course reserves may also be available for your course online via UM Learn

*Actuarial Study Manuals are on print reserve (2hr loan) at the Management Library. Please contact the Circulation Desk for specific reserve titles at (204) 474-8440.

We are happy to provide Asper faculty with research and teaching support. Here are some example of the services we offer:

  • Placing course readings on reserve in print at the Management Library or online, via UM Learn

  • Assistance with literature reviews and annotated bibliographies

  • Recommendations for course readings

  • Hands-on in-class research instruction customized to course assignments

  • Course guides that provide research direction relating to a class assignment

  • Database training on specific business tools, i.e. ABI/INFORM Complete, Mergent Online

  • Specialized software workshops, i.e. ArcGIS

  • Introductory library workshops for new MBAs and Asper international students

Please note: this list is not exhaustive. We are willing to work with you to come up with a plan that meets your needs.
