Get started with meeScan

 

1. Download and open the meeScan App on your device.

App Store icon - Click to download meeScan on an iPhone or iPad      Google Play icon - Click to download meeScan on an android device      BlackBerry World icon - Click to download meeScan on a Blackberry device.

Allow meeScan to access your camera and to send you notifications.

 

2. Activate meeScan.

Touch "START" at the welcome screen.

Touch the camera icon, and then scan the activation barcode below (or enter the code numbers "12463145")

Allow meeScan to access your location so that the app can identify from which library you are borrowing items.

 

3. Use the meeScan App to checkout items

On the welcome screen, press "START".

The first time you use the meeScan app, you will be prompted to enter your 14-digit Library ID (i.e. all of the numbers on your UM ID Card or UM Library Card).

On the checkout screen, touch the "+" button to checkout an item.

 

4. Use meeScan Station to deactivate items

Deactivate the security tags in your items at the meeScan Station before leaving the library.

Check the app on your device to confirm whether the item has been deactivated.

Touch the "FINISH" button on the app to close the session.

 

Helpful hints for easy scanning

  • Fit the entire barcode in the viewfinder.
  • Hold the phone steady until the barcode comes into focus.
  • Don't get too close. The best distance is around 15cm / 6"
  • Tilt the phone to avoid glare if necessary.
  • Use the flash in low light.
