Summary: The Middlesex Elderly Assessement of Mental State (MEAMS) was developed as a screening test to detect gross impairment of specific cognitive skills in the elderly. It has been designed to assist clinical psychologists, psychiatrists, doctors, occupational therapists, speech therapists and others who work with the elderly to differentiate between functional illnesses and organically based cognitive impairments.
