Clarify your purpose for searching and browsing!
It is so easy to get consumed by your searching activities without having much focus. If you don't consciously direct your searching activities, you would easily end up wasting your prescious time without any results to show. We all benefit from accidental discoveries, but maybe, this would not be the time. If you find yourself searching and searching aimlessly, maybe it would be a good idea to go back to the drawing board. Start again with mind mapping and outlining activities.
When you are ready to locate your sources, ask what types of information you are looking for:
1) Do I need some background information on my topic?
2) Am I looking for some evidence to incorporate into my paper or some strategic pieces of information to strengthen my paper?
3) What types of publication am I looking for? Books, journal articles, or something else?
4) Do I have tentative keywords to start my search?
5) Am I prepared to revise keywords as I explore potential alternatives?
