SciFinder: Transferring References to Reference Management Software

EndNote Instructions

To transfer references from SciFinder to EndNote follow these instructions:

1. Perform your search in SciFinder and select references of interest.

2.  Clcik on the Export link located on the top right hand side of the screen.

3.  Select Citation Export Format (*.ris).

 

Importing into EndNote

Option 1:

  • After you export the reference from SciFinder, click on Open (instead of Save) and the reference will be added to your EndNote Library if it is open. 

Option 2:

  • After you export the reference from SciFinder, click on Save.
  • From the EndNote File menu, select Import.
  • Select the *.ris file that you saved in SciFinder.
  • From the File menu, select Import.
  • Choose Reference Manager (RIS) as the Import Option.
  • Click on Import.

 

Importing into Mendeley

Option 1:

  • After you export the reference from SciFinder, click on Open (instead of Save) and select Mendeley Desktop as the application with which to open the file. If you have other software such as EndNote installed on your computer you may need to change the Default programme which opens RIS files. 

Option 2:

  • After you export the reference from SciFinder, click on Save.
  • From the Mendeley File menu, select Import.
  • Select the *.ris file that you saved in SciFinder.
