General Social Surveys

 Click on Odesi (works better using Firefox or Chrome)
 If off campus login with UMNet ID and password
 On the Title bar, click on the blue "Browse" button
 Click on the + before Social Surveys, then CANADA
 Click on the + before General Social Survey
 This should produce a list of the available survey cycles
 Click on a cycle of interest
 In some cases there are Main and Incident files
 Click on the File of interest, metadata should load in the right frame
 Above the frame, there is a bar with a series of icons
 Click on the icon that looks like a floppy disc
 You can now pick a format, SPSS, SAS, Stata, etc.
 Click on the DOWNLOAD button
 When available, save the file, noting where it is on your computer
 Double click the file to unzip the saved file
 Open up your statistical software and use it to open the survey
