Sciences and Technology Library: Research Help

Basic Research Help

The Basics

The Research Help link on the UM Libraries’ homepage offers helpful research tips.

Use One Stop Search to find a variety of material in our collection.  It is a good place to do a broad, initial search on a topic.

The Subject Guides provide key resources and tools to help you focus your search within a specific subject area.

There are over 600 Library Databases that can also be used for in-depth research.

When searching One Stop Search or the databases, click the  button to access online resources (eg. full-text articles or e-books). If you are off campus you will be prompted for your UMnet ID and password. (Note: Alumni, ICM, and all other non-UM borrowers cannot access online resources off campus.)

Ask for help at the Library Service Desk

The staff at the Service Desk can provide search tips and guide you through our resources and services.
