Computers on Campus

Computers are available in each UM Library.

Log in with your UMNet ID and password, or get a Temporary ID by showing your identification at the Circulation/Information desk.

Library computers have the regular complement of programs, including Microsoft Office products, Adobe Reader and Internet Explorer. Some computers also have additional programs installed.

Computer labs are available for classes at:

  • Elizabeth Dafoe Library
  • NJM Library
  • Sciences and Technology Library

Contact the library directly to book the labs.

Outside of the Libraries, there are computer labs available to UM students and staff in a variety of locations on campus. A complete list of UM IST computer labs is available here.

There may also be computers available in your department/faculty; see your department website for more details.

Saving Documents to the H: drive

On a UM computer, log in with your INS/UMNetID.
Information on obtaining IDs

Your personal H: drive can be accessed when you are logged into a computer on campus, or logged into the remote log-in client (off-campus), found here

Printing in the Libraries

  • Print from USB, Email, or H: Drive. 
  • Open document, click file, click print
  • Remember workstation number from the computer's desktop
  • Put money on your student card (black and white copies are $0.10/page)
  • Go to the printer station, insert your card
  • Enter your workstation number, select document
  • Click 'Print Selected Jobs', retrieve your paper from the tray!
