Historical note: Nine years after the original Manitoba History Conference, the Department of History co-sponsored another conference with the Manitoba Historical Society. The event would become an annual affair. This conference had sessions on the Metis, Manitoba social history, Manitoba women's history, and historical treks and landscapes.

Custodial history: The fonds was donated to University of Manitoba Archives & Special Collections in 1988 by the Department of History.

Scope and content: The fonds consists of copies of the papers presented at the First Annual Manitoba History Conference.
