Library System Search Engine

Browsing Journal Titles for Disability Studies

To browse potential journal titles using the Library Search Engine, follow the steps below:

  1. Click "Search" button without entering any text in the box.
  2. Click "New Search" button.
  3. Click Advanced Search (hyperlink in blue).
  4. From "Any fields" pull-down menu, select "Subject" and make sure "contains" option is selected.
  5. Type:  disability OR disabled OR handicapped OR "people with disabilities"
  6. Move down to next line and make sure "AND" is selected and select "Subject" again from "Any fields" pull-down menu.
  7. Type: periodicals.
  8. Go to the Tweak Your Results column, and go down to "Resource Type."
  9. Click "Show More" hyperlink and select "Journals."  Click "Apply Filters."
  10. Go down to "Publication Date."
  11. Change the start date to, say, "2010."  Click "Apply Filters."
  12. Browse the results.

Browsing the Journals with the Subject Heading: "People with disabilities - social conditions"

To browse potential journal titles using the Library Search Engine, follow the steps below:

  1. Click "Search" button without entering any text in the box.
  2. Click "New Search" button.
  3. Click Advanced Search (hyperlink in blue).
  4. From "Any fields" pull-down menu, select "Subject" and make sure "contains" option is selected.
  5. Type: "people with disabilities" social conditions.
  6. Go to the left-hand side column shown "Tweak the results."
  7. Go down to "Resource Type" and Click " See More."
  8. Select "Journals."
  9. Click "Apply Filters."
