Getting Access to the Libraries' Computers and Internet

University of Manitoba Students, Staff & Faculty

  • Log in to the library's public computers using your assigned University of Manitoba email address and its password.
    • Your username and password will be exactly the same for your UM email account, UM Learn, signUM, etc.
  • If you have not yet created your UMNetID, you can do so at signUM.
  • UM Students, Staff, and Faculty have full access to the University's online articles, books, and databases.

**The Sciences & Technology Library has one Accessibility iMac Workstation for public use. Login instructions can be found at the workstation.**

ICM (International College of Manitoba) Students

  • Log in to the library's public computers using your assigned UMnetID (not the full email address) and its password.
    • You would have received this information from the ICM Office in an email. Please contact them if you did not or if you are having problems with your account.
  • ICM students have full library access on campus only.

University of Manitoba Alumni & All Other Library Card Holders

  • Log in to one of the library's public computers using the Guest Account's generic username and password.
    • If the generic username and password are not written on the computer's background, you will need to request them from the front desk.
  • To access webpages beyond those affiliated with the University of Manitoba:
    • Enter the desired webpage's URL into your web browser.
    • A pop up will ask for you to authenticate your account. Do so by entering your library card's 14-digit ID as the username. Your password would have been provided to you when you set up your library account.

Printing and Scanning

Payment Method

  • UM Photo ID cards, UM Libraries' borrower cards and UM Libraries' copy cards can be used to print from all UM libraries' printers. (UMSU Digital Copy Centre cards cannot be used.)
  • Add money to your card using the Cash-Card Machine located at the Print/Copy Station.
    • The machine accepts cash only: $1 and $2 coins; $5, $10 and $20 bills.

Printing

  • Black-and-white printing costs 10 cents/page. 
  • Colour printing is $1.00/page.
  • Letter-sized (8.5"x11") paper is available.
  • Documents may be sent to the Printing Station from any library computer, as well as personal laptops when connected wirelessly.

  • Basic printing instructions are located on all computer desktops in the library.

Scanning

  • The Sciences and Technology, Agriculture, and Engineering libraries each have Epson V600 flatbed scanner workstations.
    • Use of the scanners is free.
    • Instructions are available at each scanner workstation.
