Open Education Resources (OERs) are teaching resources available in a variety of formats that have an open copyright license. This allows anyone to use, adapt and share them as needed. There are different types of open copyright licenses that allow a range of permissions to the user. Many of these are administered by Creative Commons.
Open Education Resources and open pedagogy have many benefits for both faculty and students.
Faculty and instructors at University of Manitoba can contact their subject librarian for assistance with finding or adapting OERs and open textbooks. |
Institutional support in Manitoba for open education resources is provided by Campus Manitoba's Open Textbook Initiative. |
