Library Study Spaces Opening: Home


February 16, 2021 - Elizabeth Dafoe and Neal John Maclean Health Sciences Libraries will open for individual student study space. See below for details.

Library Study Spaces

  • Hours: 9 AM - 5 PM, Monday to Friday. Closed Saturday & Sunday.
  • Drop-in access -- first-come, first-served.
Neil John Maclean Health Sciences Library

* Library access is available to Bannatyne campus students, staff, and faculty who have swipe card access.


  • All UM students have access to any library that is open. Study space is limited due to safety precautions.
  • Students will need their UM ID card, in order to enter the libraries' study spaces.
  • Main library floors will be available as a QUIET study zone. All other areas and levels, including elevators and group study rooms will be closed.
  • A reduced number of computers are available for student use.
  • NO food is permitted in the library. Students may bring their own beverage in a lidded container. Water fountains will be unavailable and Starbucks is closed.
  • Access to physical library materials will be closed; and in-person reference staff will be unavailable. Here are some options for obtaining help:
  • Printing, scanning, and photocopying will be unavailable.

of Manitoba

  • Use of 3-ply reusable or disposable MASKS is mandatory.
  • Maintain physical distancing (6ft/2m) at all times.
  • Ensure SANITATION of hands and work areas.
  • Only 1 PERSON per table.
  • Do not move the furniture.
  • Maintain washroom cleanliness.
