As a faculty member, you can:
Items may be recalled if someone else requests access to them - you`ll be notified via email of when you need to return the item that`s been recalled.
If an instructor says that you have course materials on reserve, you can search for them via the course reserve tab in One Stop Search area. Make sure you’re signed into your account before searching.
You can search for course reserves with a course code, item title, or item author. Course code will likely help you find your item the fastest.
When you click the item title or availability, you can view more information about the reserve policy. Such as how long the item is available for and in which library the item is located.
Now that you know what it is and where it is, and how long you can borrow it, contact the service desk at the listed library location to pick up the item.
You can place a request on library materials to have them ready for pickup the next time you’re on campus. You can also place requests on items that are already checked out to recall them back to the library. If you request something that is already checked-out, the person who currently has the item will have seven days to return the item before they are fined.
NOTE: Requests can take time to process, especially if you’re requesting an item from another campus. If you require immediate access to the material, you should visit the library where the material is located in person.
You must be signed in to your library account to place a request. Login to your account at any time in your search by clicking on sign in at the top right corner of the page.
Type in your UMNet ID and password and click login.
Navigate to the item you want to request or reserve and click on the availability link.
A tab will open below the item, and show you details such as where the item is located, and whether or not it is available. Click on the request link.
A request form will pop up. Fill in the material type and loan period, and then select the location where you would like to pick up the item. Remember, items take time to move between locations.
You will also need to select a not needed after date. This is the point at which you will no longer need an item because a deadline has passed.
When you’re finished entering all of the information, click request to finish the process.
The tab will refresh, confirm the request has been placed, and indicate how many users are ahead of you, if any. You will receive two emails: One to confirm the request has been placed, and another once the item is ready and on the shelf for pickup.
