Biographical sketch: Janet McLaughlin was born in Strathblane, Scotland on April 18, 1854 and came to Canada at the age of seven with her parents. The family originally settled in Stratford, Ontario before moving to Hamiota, Manitoba. In 1882, she married James McLaughlin of Rapid City, Manitoba where they farmed for several years. In 1889, the young family moved to the Dauphin district where Janet McLaughlin lived for over forty years. Janet McLaughlin was mother to seven children.
Custodial history: The fonds was donated to University of Manitoba Archives & Special Collections in 1996 by Pat Boyd, a descendant of Janet McLaughlin.
Scope and content: The fonds consists of one minute book from the Gartmore Ladies club and a copy of "Story of a Pioneer Woman" by Ruth Goodhand, which was published in the Dauphin Heraldnewspaper in 1958.
