Title: William Joseph Simms fonds (Administration Building Construction).

Dates: ca. 1911-1912.

Extent: 8 photographs. -- 8 negatives.

Biographical sketch: William Joseph Simms was the grandfather of Joe Pearn.

Custodial history: Joe Pearn donated the photographs to University of Manitoba Archives & Special Collections in 2004. They were received interleaved with paper towels.

Scope and content: The fonds consists of negatives taken by Joseph Simms. The negatives consist of 5 black and white glass plate negatives measuring 16.2 x 21.5 cm, 2 black and white glass plate negatives measuring 12.5 x 17.5 cm, and 1 black and white nitrate negative measuring 8.2 x 6.0 cm.  The glass plate negatives depict the Administration building under construction, at least two points near its completion, and featuring two work crews. Each of three pairs of these negatives has been taken within a few moments of each other.

Physical condition: All negatives show some silvering out. One glass plate negative has flaking emulsion.
