Biographical sketch: Born in Ireland, Nancy Pyper became associated with the Abbey Theatre and such writers as Synge O'Casey, Lady Gregory, and W.B. Yeats. After her marriage to Charles D. Pyper, newspaper writer and author, the Pypers moved to Winnipeg. In Winnipeg, Nancy Pyper achieved prominence as an actress, director, and producer, and was associated with the majority of the dramatic groups in the city.
Custodial history: The fonds was donated to University of Manitoba Archives & Special Collections by Nancy Pyper in 1971.
Scope and content: The fonds contains newsclippings and programs from Winnipeg and Toronto, dating 1924-1971. The newsclippings primarily reflect Pyper's work in the theatre in Winnipeg and the early career of actress Judith Evelyn. The programs describe theatre and music performances in Winnipeg and the history of the Women's Club in Winnipeg. Also included is one letter from Nancy Pyper.
