Docs to Go allows you to view, edit and create Microsoft Office documents and Adobe PDF files on your smartphone or tablet.

Dropbox (free)

Dropbox allows you to store, edit and access  your photos, files and documents from any mobile device or computerr.  Files are synced between all of your computers and mobile devices.  Create a Dropbox account by going to: http://www.dropbox.com/.

Evernote helps you stay organized across multiple devices and computers.  It allows you to take notes, attach files to notes, snap photos, create lists, record voice reminders, set reminders or alarms,  and share notes with others.

Pages is a word processing program that allows you to create documents on your Mac.  The Pages app allows you to access your Pages documents on your ipad or iphone. Using iCloud, your documents are synced across all your Apple devices. Documents can be shared with others and real-time collaboration is supported.  Pages also works with Microsoft Word documents, allowing you to save Pages documents as Word documents or import Word documents into Pages.
