Ashley is a Humanities Liaison Librarian currently serving the Faculty of Architecture (Environmental Design, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Interior Design, and City Planning) and Department of Classical Studies. Her role involves library instruction, reference and research support, and collection development.
After completing a BFA in Art & Design (University of Alberta, 2011) she spent several years leading and participating in community development, education, and research initiatives in vulnerable communities that intersect with art and design. Her focus has been establishing strategic and accessible opportunities for inclusive learning in diverse contexts that incorporate skill development and extension of diverse literacies. She completed an MLIS (University of Alberta) in 2021.
Her research interests include information literacy and research processes in creative and studio-based disciplines, open pedagogy, and issues of information access and equity, specifically prison libraries. She has further supported the LIS community through her role as an Editor-in-chief of Pathfinder Journal, Co-editor of ARLIS/NA's Library Exhibitions Review, Director-at-Large of U of A's LISAA, Co-Canadian Liaison of ArLiSNAP, and through her roles with the Manitoba Library Association’s Prison Libraries Committee.
