Research Visualization Instruction Assessment

Research visualization instruction assessment at UML

Research visualization instruction in libraries:
Evaluating the value of using data physicalization in introductory sessions.

Principal Investigator: Meg Miller, GIS & Research Visualization Librarian

The session instructor is conducting an exploratory study to gather feedback to evaluate the effectiveness and value of using data physicalization methods (crafting) to support student learning during introductory research visualization instruction.  This will allow the instructor to improve their teaching materials and add to the limited body of literature in this area.

The process will involve being part of a recorded 60-minute focus group in the hour after the workshop discussing topics about the learning materials themselves, learning data foundations at the University of Manitoba, and the role of the librarian and libraries in participant data literacy.

Participants will be provided with light refreshments as a thanks for their participation, recognizing they are taking time to do this outside of their course work.
