Learn More About Searching
When you are searching the library you are searching through a large list of records. For everything in the library there is a corresponding record that tells you what it is and how to get it.
Here is an example. The Libraries have a copy of the book The Handmaid’s Tale by Canadian author, Margaret Atwood. Here is a the record for the book as it appears in the search results.

The record tells us this copy of The Handmaid’s Tale was published in 1998 in Toronto by a McClelland-Bantam, Inc. It can be found at the St. John’s College Library on the main floor. You can find it on the shelf with the call number PS8851.T97 H36 1998. The record also has a map of the library that shows you where to find the correct shelf.

Opening the record will show more detailed information about the information about the book. You can see: what what library location has the book, whether its available online, and bibliographic details. You can also: save the record to a list of your favourites, use the citation generator to create a reference in APA, MLA or Chicago styles, and copy a link to the record so you can share it or access it later.
