Requests / Recalls / Holds

You may request any item at any time; material checked out will be recalled for you. Recalled items are due in 7 days and will incur a fine if they are overdue. You may also request items from another library to be sent to the library of your choice. These requests usually take 3-4 working days and will be kept on hold for you for 7 days.

You will be informed of recalls and books being held for you by email. You can also check My Library Account for updates on requests and new due dates. Check your library account on a regular basis to avoid surprises!

The UML reserves the right to recall material at any time.

Renewing Library Materials

Renew your items with My Library Account. You can renew most materials up to 3 times, with the exception of recalled items, reserve materials and other short term loan materials.

Returning Library Materials

Return most material to any library, except Reserve items – return these at the service desk during operating hours to avoid fines.  Use the book depository outside of the library (located on the wall adjacent to the library entrance doors) when the library is closed.

Automatically generated notices about overdue material, bills, holds and recalls are emailed to borrowers. When an item is recalled, we will also attempt to phone borrowers. Notices are provided as a courtesy. The UML accepts no further responsibility for notification due dates. Please ensure we have your current contact information and check My Library Account on a regular basis to avoid surprises!
