Dataverse: Guide for Researchers: Roles and Permissions

Repository Services

The researcher or primary investigator (PI) initiating a request for a dataverse (project) will be given the Admin role.

Other team members including research assistants or collaborators can be assigned roles depending on the requirements of their position and work with the data. The Admin will be responsible for assigning roles. It is important to keep the roles updated and current. We recommend that researchers keep the number of users with a high level of access (Admin and Curator roles in particular) to a minimum. All personnel that are to be assigned a role within a dataverse project must have a UM Dataverse account themselves.

Roles set at the dataverse level will apply to all datasets within that dataverse. Roles set at the dataset level only apply to that dataset.

The permissions accorded to each role are outlined in the table(s) below. More than one role can be assigned to a member at a time to combine access functions as needed.
