Systematic Reviews and Knowledge Synthesis for the Sciences

Data Extraction

After screening your selected studies, you will need to read the full text of each study and extract the relevant data. You and your team can use a standardized data extraction template or form to collect your selected studies' data in a systematic way.

Data Extraction Tools

Data Management

Good data management practices should be used throughout your review to ensure preservation and reproducibility. This includes proper file name conventions, sharing data, and data back ups. For help thinking about managing your knowledge synthesis data, you can read or fill out a data management plan for your review (Ganshorn, Premji, & Ronksley, 2021).

Please see the University of Manitoba Libraries' Research Data Management guide for more information.
