How to search using Ovid

Ovid is a web interface used to search a number of databases subscribed to by the UM Libraries. Including:

You can access Ovid databases if you are a current University of Manitoba student, staff or faculty member.

To access Ovid databases from the UM Libraries:

1. Go to the main UM Libraries home page.
2. Click Databases A-Z.
3. Click the first letter of the database of interest from the alphabet list.
4. Scroll down until you see database name and click on the link.
5. If you are accessing these databases from home, you will be asked to login with your UMNetID and password. These are the same credentials you use to access your UM email account.

The default search for the UM Libraries Ovid databases is the Advanced Search which offers the most flexibility in terms of searching. This feature is what is described in this guide.
