Artist Statement:
This work demonstrates my connection to the anthropocene and the earth around me. By editing repurposed videos from times I have felt connected to and present in the earth into short choppy clips, I hope to provide the viewer with a sense of unrest and tension. Layered over this are the calming, grounding sounds of lake Ontario, drawing out a contrast between sight and sound. In building this tension through the simple act of pairing dissonant sounds and sights, the work evokes questions about how we connect and where we are.
