Advisory: US Federal Government information sources

by Nicole Askin (WRHAVL) on 2025-05-13T13:38:00-05:00 | 0 Comments

Beginning January 2025, the U.S. Government has been selectively removing and altering evidence-based health information on its websites and online resources.

On February 12, 2025, a court ordered the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the Food and Drug Administration to restore some webpages and datasets that had been altered or removed to their state as of January 30, 2025. However, many of the restored webpages now contain a notice from the U.S. administration that is inaccurate and harmful.

At this time, caution is advised when consulting a U.S. Government website or resource, as information may be missing, misleading, harmful, or inaccurate.

You should pay close attention to the date the document or site you are viewing was last updated, and if it was updated after January 30, 2025, consider using the Wayback Machine to view an earlier version for comparison.

If you identify false or missing information on a page or resource you have accessed through a link on the WRHA Virtual Library website, please notify us at WRHA.VirtualLibrary@umanitoba.ca.
