WRHA Virtual Library: Systematic and Scoping Reviews

In addition to our literature search service, we are also able to support some other types of research projects, such as systematic or scoping reviews. Support will include:

  • search strategy development
  • peer review of librarian-developed search strategy (PRESS review)
  • translating the strategy to multiple databases
  • grey literature search development
  • running the search
  • de-duplicating and compiling search results
  • Document Delivery to access sources not covered by our subscriptions
  • Assistance in writing methods section and compiling PRISMA diagrams

This service is open to all WRHA Virtual Library clients, but is not intended for use in course projects; instructional support can be provided in those cases.

Knowledge synthesis projects like systematic reviews are more complex than literature searches and can take weeks or months to complete. You should consult an appropriate resource for your project type such as the Cochrane Handbook for systematic reviews to get a sense of the requirements. Due to the complexity and skill level involved, it is required that the librarian will be included as a contributing author on any publications resulting from the project.

Book an appointment with a librarian to discuss your project and timelines. We also offer some research and data management services.
